The International School at Rogers Magnet

In Fall 2007, The International School at Rogers Magnet proudly received the honor of being the recipient of the Lone Pine First Annual Fairfield Academic Gain Award.

In addition, Rogers was recognized by the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now (ConnCan), a nonprofit, statewide outreach, education and research organization with an active network of parents, teachers, students and business and community leaders across Connecticut.  In their yearly ranking of public elementary schools from Connecticut, the International School at Rogers Magnet was ranked: #2 in low-income students within goal range, #3 in most improved school, #3 in Hispanics within goal range, and #5 in performance gains overall.

February is a special month for Rogers, because it was in this month in 2006 that the school received its official authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, to offer the Primary Years Program.  The IB Primary Years Program is a highly praised model used by 1300 schools in over 80 countries.  The program has enabled Rogers to provide its diverse, international community with a proven model for teaching students to become active citizens in our local and global community.

The Primary Years Program defines the characteristics of students who are aware of and sensitive to the experiences of others. These create the student profile, which comprise ten attributes defining students as:
Inquirers
Thinkers
Communicators
Risk-takers
Knowledgeable
Principled
Caring
Open-Minded
Well-Balanced
Reflective
